I love DIY Marketing!

It's a fun challenge to be creative with new images, text, and techniques to let folks know what I do. It encourages me to regularly revisit where I want my business to be and what I want my business to be doing. I love learning new things and DIY marketing is constantly changing thanks to the fast pace of technology – no way I'm getting bored!

I love finding and making images for marketing. Sometimes I combine beautiful free online images (checking they're copyright free too!) with text and my own designs to create new imagery for my projects and workshops. I hunt down the perfect fonts, get inspired by different colour schemes, and try to make sure my images express the feelings or subject I'm trying to express

I also enjoy thinking up things to write. I write regularly, however it's normally just for me, not for others to read. Writing for public reading is much more nerve-wracking! Often I get nervous and research what others write – big mistake, I just end up confused, overwhelmed, and worried I'll plagiarise. I find it easier to just talk to folks. Several years ago I learnt from an elderly client, who's written several books, to just put it out there and tidy it up later – there's no point in waiting for it to be perfect.

Technology is changing so fast that there are constantly more and more easy (and free) techniques to do DIY Marketing. All it takes is a little time upskilling and some time checking the marketing items are functional or of a good enough quality for what you want.
And keeping up-to-date keeps your mind active and your creativity challenged!
